Publication of Updated Version of SaudiNIC Registration Regulation

   1/7/2020

As part of the continuous efforts from CST to develop and enhance the services provided for local domain names (domain names that end with .sa or .السعودية), SaudiNIC (part of CST) is aiming to adopt the "Registry-Registrar" model, which is one of the best practices in the domain name industry. The "Registry-Registrar" model allows registering Saudi domain names through an accredited Registrar from the private sector.

Following this goal, SaudiNIC has published a new version (4.0) of Saudi Domain Name Registration Regulation, which has been approved by the CST Board of Directors. The most notable changes were the replacement of the article regarding objections with an article about Domain Name Dispute Resolution in regard to Saudi domain names, which follows rules and processes that will be published later. Also, an article was added to handle complaints in regard to the Registration Regulation, as well as the addition and changes of other articles to help guide the adoption of the "Registry-Registrar" model.

As Regulation stated in article (22/2), that registrants shall be bound by any revised terms and conditions as well as any additional terms and conditions in the Domain Name Registration Regulation, or any related regulations or procedures. These changes shall be applied after thirty (30) days from the date that a notification of such change is published on the website.

As Regulation stated in article (22/3) continued use of any domain name shall constitute that Registrant acceptance of the revised and new terms and conditions, in the Domain Name Registration Regulation or any related regulations or procedures.

SaudiNIC encourages all registrants to update their information as well as the information of administrative and technical contacts for all their Saudi domain names to be prepared for any additional future changes, especially those in relation to domain name dispute resolution or fees.
